Are There Any Hoodia Dangers to Be Concerned About?

Searching for the dangers of any diet aid or natural supplement you take is a wise idea, and being concerned about potential Hoodia dangers is no exception. If you’re going to take something to help you lose weight, you do well to research it thoroughly first.

And since there have been so many diet aids and supplements that have caused serious damage to the health of those who have used them, it’s all the more important to be concerned with any potential Hoodia dangers you might face.

You might assume that the potential Hoodia dangers are the same as the dangers you would face from any other diet supplement. Most diet aids and pills contain ephedrine, a form of adrenaline, and large amounts of caffeine.

These substances cause the heart to beat unnaturally fast which in turn makes the body burn up more calories. While this might sound like a good idea, this unnatural forcing of a rapid heartbeat is very damaging to the cardiovascular system.

Actually, no. Hoodia contains no ephedrine or caffeine in its pure form. Hoodia is actually a derivative of a cactus plant that is native to parts of Africa and works much the same way protein works, by telling the brain that the body is full.

So the Hoodia dangers are nothing like the dangers of other types of diet aids and pills. Those substances of ephedrine and caffeine not only cause the heart to race like that but also typically cause dizziness, nausea, vomiting, mood swings, irritability, shallow and labored breathing, increased risk of heart attack, spikes in the blood sugar, sleeplessness, racing and confused thoughts, and in some cases even hallucinations! But not so when it comes to potential Hoodia dangers, since Hoodia does not contain these substances.

So what are the Hoodia dangers that you should consider? Those that have tried Hoodia have actually reported few if any side effects at all! The substance does not seem to increase the heart rate or cause these other common side effects.

As a matter of fact, the only real Hoodia dangers that seem to be consistent with its use is potential dehydration and going for too long between meals. Hoodia suppresses thirst as well as hunger which means its users often neglect to get enough to drink, and since they’re not hungry they may go several hours between meals.

If you don’t eat on a consistent basis your blood sugar can drop dangerously low and you can feel lightheaded as well as irritable. Of course these Hoodia dangers are easily addressed – simply be sure to eat regularly and to drink enough water whether or not you’re thirsty.

By doing these things you should be able to use Hoodia for permanent and long-term weight loss safely and effectively.
